Abstract
Climate change significantly impacts Indian agriculture, heavily reliant on monsoon rainfall. This study analyzes the relationship between rice yield and monsoon rainfall in India (1990-2017) using historical data. Excessive rainfall reduces yield by 33.7%, while deficit rainfall reduces it by 19%. The optimal rainfall threshold nationwide is 1621 ± 34 mm; beyond this, yield declines. Spatial variations in optimal thresholds exist across 14 states, and temporal variations are influenced by El Niño-Southern Oscillation events.
