This study compares online and in-person learning at King Saud University, analyzing final test scores of freshmen in five core courses across 2020 (in-person) and 2021 (online). Initial findings suggested lower online scores, but after controlling for gender, class size, and admission scores, a more nuanced picture emerged. Three courses showed better online performance, one favored in-person learning, and one showed no difference. The study highlights the context-specific nature of online learning's impact and advocates for data-driven strategies in integrating online modalities in higher education.
