Abstract
This research paper investigates the role of mitochondrial-encoded MOTS-c in regulating age-dependent physical decline and muscle homeostasis. The study demonstrates that MOTS-c enhances physical performance in mice of various ages and that exercise induces MOTS-c expression in humans. Furthermore, it shows that late-life MOTS-c treatment improves physical capacity and healthspan in mice, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for age-related decline.
