This paper examines the mobilization of federal science advice in Canada's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It describes the pre-existing federal science advice "ecosystem" and how it evolved during the pandemic's first two years. The authors reviewed publicly available government documents and publications. The study concludes that while cross-departmental engagement was promising, institutionalizing science advisory bodies for public health is crucial for future pandemic preparedness. Further research is needed to assess the independence of advisory actors and the interaction between federal and subnational authorities.
