Abstract
This study investigates microplastic distribution in the Eurasian Arctic, focusing on the influence of Atlantic waters and Siberian rivers. Analysis of water samples revealed varying microplastic concentrations across different water masses. Atlantic surface waters exhibited the highest microplastic weight concentration, while Siberian river discharge was the second largest source. The study concludes that these water masses govern microplastic distribution, with microplastic properties useful for water mass identification.
