Control over vesicle size during liposome synthesis is crucial for defining the pharmaceutical properties of liposomal nanomedicines. This paper describes a microfluidic vortex focusing (MVF) technique that generates liposomes with precisely controlled size and low size variance at high throughput. By adjusting buffer and lipid flow rates, liposomes as small as 27 nm were produced with mass production rates exceeding 20 g/h, offering a path toward production-scale liposome synthesis.
