Abstract
Public acceptance is crucial for implementing climate change mitigation policies. This meta-analysis examines 15 determinants of public opinion on climate change taxes and laws, synthesizing 89 datasets from 51 articles across 33 countries (119,465 participants). Perceived fairness and effectiveness were the strongest determinants. Self-enhancement values and knowledge showed weak relationships, while demographic variables had minimal impact. These findings can inform the design of more effective climate policies.
