Abstract
This study investigated the effect of spectator absence on home advantage in Major League Baseball (MLB) during the 2020 season (no spectators) compared to 2015-2019. Analyzing 13,044 regular-season games, the study found no significant difference in home-team win likelihood with or without spectators. Relative home advantage, accounting for team quality, also showed no significant difference across years, team quality, or attendance. The results suggest spectators may not be a crucial factor in MLB's home advantage.
