This longitudinal study investigated the association between dietary patterns and hypertension in Chinese adults (n=15,929) over 28 years using data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (1991-2018). Factor analysis identified three dietary patterns: modern (high fruits, dairy), meat (high poultry, organ meats), and southern (high rice, vegetables, pork). The modern pattern was inversely associated with systolic blood pressure (SBP), while the meat pattern was positively associated with diastolic blood pressure (DBP) and hypertension risk. These findings suggest that dietary patterns significantly impact blood pressure and hypertension risk in Chinese adults.
