Abstract
This study investigated the accuracy of language-based responses analyzed by computational methods versus rating scales in classifying emotional states, considering the impact of alexithymia. Participants generated narratives describing emotions, which were then summarized using words and rating scales. Language-based responses showed higher accuracy in classifying emotional states than rating scales. Alexithymia did not significantly influence classification accuracy based on words or rating scales, but narratives from high-alexithymia individuals were harder to classify.
