International trade sanctions imposed on Russia due to the Russia-Ukraine war have caused disruptions in global energy markets. This study uses a combined global general equilibrium model and atmospheric source-receptor model to analyze the environmental, economic, and public health impacts of these sanctions. The results indicate that the economic and environmental consequences are not directly proportional and that intensifying sanctions could exacerbate the uneven distribution of environmental and health outcomes across regions. The study highlights the need to consider the impacts on regions beyond the conflict to mitigate negative consequences and support post-conflict restoration.
