Abstract
This study analyzes 44,419 research grants awarded by UK research councils to investigate the long-term funding performance of interdisciplinary researchers. While interdisciplinary researchers initially show lower publication impact, they ultimately surpass their specialized counterparts in securing both a greater volume and value of funding over time. This suggests that interdisciplinary careers, though initially challenging, can lead to long-term success.
