L. Hu, W. Huang, et al.

This study, conducted by Liang Hu, Win-bin Huang, and Yi Bu, uncovers a fascinating connection between the interdisciplinarity of scientific publications and their attention in policy documents, particularly in the context of COVID-19 research. The findings reveal that interdisciplinary approaches, especially those characterized by variety, significantly enhance the potential impact on policy formulation and implementation.

Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between interdisciplinarity in scientific publications and the attention they receive from policy documents, using COVID-19 research as a case study. The analysis reveals a positive correlation between interdisciplinarity and policy attention across various fields. Variety, one of the three dimensions of interdisciplinarity (variety, balance, and disparity), shows the strongest positive impact on policy attention. The findings suggest that interdisciplinary research has greater potential to influence policy formulation and implementation.
