Abstract
This article presents the findings of an extended analysis of water quality data collected in Ecuador's 2016 and 2019 National Household Surveys. The study integrated water-quality analysis (detecting *E. coli*) into the surveys, examining water quality at both the source and point of consumption. The results highlight water quality as the primary barrier to accessing safely managed drinking water, emphasizing the need for improved water quality control and surveillance strategies. The analysis also explores correlations between water quality at the point of consumption and factors like household water treatment, handwashing, and sanitation practices.
