Integrated aquatic and terrestrial food production enhances micronutrient and economic productivity for nutrition-sensitive food systems

This study investigates the economic and nutritional benefits of integrating aquatic and terrestrial food production in southern Bangladesh. Researchers analyzed data from 721 farms, finding positive associations between integrating terrestrial foods into aquatic systems and nutrient productivity, although this wasn't always linked to economic productivity. Specific combinations of aquatic foods and vegetables, however, simultaneously improved both nutrient and economic productivity, promoting nutrition-sensitive agriculture (NSA). The findings provide a framework for designing NSA programs to enhance nutrition security.
