Information-driven attentional capture
A. Doyle, K. Volkova, et al.
Visual attention isn't driven solely by reward or physical salience — a history of informative targets can make otherwise bland stimuli seize our gaze. Using pre-cues to render target information instrumental or redundant, Alenka Doyle, Kamilla Volkova, Nicholas Crotty, Nicole Massa, and Michael A. Grubb show that distractors tied to instrumental information drew more eye movements and caused larger response-time costs. This research was conducted by Alenka Doyle, Kamilla Volkova, Nicholas Crotty, Nicole Massa, and Michael A. Grubb.
