Abstract
This paper investigates the relationship between industrial robot application (IRA) and individual migration decision (IMD) in China using the conditional logit model and CMDS data. Findings reveal that IRA reduces the probability of the floating population choosing cities with high IRA levels, an effect robust to endogeneity and further tests. The impact is heterogeneous, varying across demographics (education, health, age, marital status, etc.) and city characteristics (location, size, marketization, wages, environment). The mechanism analysis shows IRA affects IMD through wage levels, housing prices, and job availability, reflecting individual utility maximization.
