High-Performance Monodisperse Microcube Scintillators for X-ray Imaging

This report details the development of high-performance, monodisperse copper iodide-(1-propyl-1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octan-1-ium)₂ (Cu₄I₆(pr-ted)₂) microcube scintillators using a hot-injection method followed by thermal annealing. These microcubes exhibit strong green radioluminescence at 535 nm, a low X-ray detection limit of 22 nGy_air s⁻¹, and remarkable robustness to water and X-rays. Their application as microfillers in flexible, high-performance composite scintillators for small animal X-ray imaging (both static and dynamic) is demonstrated, showcasing their promise for advanced radiation detection and imaging.
