Abstract
This genome-wide association study (GWAS) identified marker-trait associations (MTAs) for iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), and protein content (PC) in pearl millet. A diverse panel of 281 inbred lines showed high variability and heritability for these traits. 78 MTAs were identified, including four SNPs co-segregated for Fe and Zn. Promising genes involved in Fe and Zn homeostasis were identified, offering prospects for genomics-assisted biofortification breeding.
