Abstract
This genome-wide association study (GWAS) investigated the genetic basis of Chinese and English language abilities in 1046 Hong Kong Chinese bilingual children. Five independent loci reached genome-wide significance (p < 5e-08), associated with various language traits. Polygenic risk score (PRS) analysis revealed significant overlap with educational attainment and cognitive performance, particularly for English literacy skills.
