Abstract
This paper systematically studies research on gender in the digital economy from 1995-2020. It identifies three main gender approaches: (1) feminist theory of technology and ICT; (2) feminist political economy; and (3) mainstream economic analysis of women's participation and labor. The study reveals a lack of theoretical consistency in gender analysis within the digital economy and suggests future research should focus on developing a feminist political economy framework.
