Abstract
This study assesses the potential of improving circularity in the global food system by increasing the use of food system by-products and residues in animal feeds. Analysis shows that replacing food-competing feedstuff with by-products could increase the current global food supply by up to 13% (kcal) and 15% (protein). Increased use of food system by-products as feed has significant potential, particularly when combined with other measures, for a transition towards circular food systems.
