This study investigates the impact of sustained anti-corruption campaigns on corruption perceptions. Using a survey experiment in China, the researchers find that individuals form and revise perceptions online, integrating new information continuously rather than relying solely on memory. Corruption perceptions are positively correlated with both past trends in investigations and recent investigation numbers. Unexpected recent investigations can reverse perceptions based on past trends.
