L. S. Tuominen, H. Helanterä, et al.

This before-after study, conducted by Laura S. Tuominen and colleagues, reveals surprising insights into urban box gardening in Turku, Finland during the COVID-19 pandemic. Abstract
This before-after study examines the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on urban box gardening in Turku, Finland (2019-2021). The study finds that while the pandemic increased the importance of box gardening for many, contrary to expectations, gardeners reported fewer benefits. This suggests the pandemic's negative influence on well-being extended to urban gardening, highlighting the pandemic's long-term transformative effects on this social-ecological system.
