Abstract
Expert judgments on solar geoengineering (SG) inform policy decisions and influence public opinions. This study compares the judgments of 13 US and 13 Chinese climate experts on climate change, SG research, governance, and deployment. Despite differing views on desired climate scenarios and international regulation venues, quantitative judgments showed few significant differences between the two groups. Both groups strongly supported increased SG research funding (around 5% of climate science budgets). However, climate experts favored far less SG deployment than SG-focused experts.
