Abstract
This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluated the efficacy of Jackfruit365™ green jackfruit flour in managing type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). 40 patients received either jackfruit flour (30g/day) or placebo flour for 12 weeks, replacing an equal volume of rice or wheat flour in their daily meals. The primary endpoint was mean change in glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c). Group A (jackfruit flour) showed significantly higher reductions in HbA1c (-2.73 mmol/mol), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), and postprandial plasma glucose (PPG) compared to Group B (placebo). Continuous glucose monitoring confirmed lower blood glucose levels in the jackfruit flour group. The study concludes that jackfruit flour is effective in glycemic control as a medical nutrition therapy replacement for rice or wheat flour in T2DM patients.
