E. Medawar, M. Zedler, et al.

Explore the intriguing findings of a study conducted by Evelyn Medawar and colleagues, which reveals how plant-based and animal-based meals affect our satiety and mood. Surprisingly, the type of meal had little impact on post-meal hunger, with gender and taste ratings playing a significant role. Abstract
This study investigated the effects of single plant-based versus animal-based meals on satiety and mood. Three large-scale smartphone-based studies (n=16,379) showed that meal intake increased satiety and mood. Plant-based meal choices did not significantly affect post-meal hunger. Individuals choosing plant-based meals reported slightly higher pre-meal mood and smaller mood increases post-meal compared to those choosing animal-based meals. Protein content marginally mediated post-meal satiety, while gender and taste ratings strongly influenced satiety and mood. No profound effects of plant-based vs. animal-based meals on satiety and mood were detected.
