Abstract
This article introduces the Ecological Sensitivity within Human Realities (ESHR) concept to enhance functional biodiversity in agricultural systems. It argues that current approaches inadequately address the interplay between ecological conditions and human influences. ESHR integrates ecological considerations with an understanding of diverse human realities (intangible and tangible) to guide human-environment interactions. The concept is explained using an integrated narrative literature review, and its novelty is demonstrated by comparing it with existing concepts like socio-ecological niches and sustainable intensification.
