This study investigates the meanings urban squares hold for their users in Poznan, Poland. Employing in-depth interviews, a CAWI survey, and observational studies, the research reveals 11 distinct meanings attributed to these spaces, often co-occurring and subject to change based on spatial alterations. While most participants valued urban squares, a concerning trend emerged among younger respondents (18-39 years old) who found their use unimportant, suggesting a potential future crisis.
