Abstract
This article investigates the wellbeing of migrant workers in Kerala, India during the first COVID-19 lockdown. Utilizing the Wellbeing in Developing Countries (WeD) approach, which considers material, relational, and subjective wellbeing, the study examines how migrant workers perceived government interventions and voluntary initiatives. The research highlights a shift in perception from 'migrant workers' to 'guest workers' and emphasizes the importance of subjective factors in understanding migrant needs during crises, informing disaster preparedness policies.
