Abstract
This study reanalyzed data from a two-year longitudinal study to investigate the association between changes in physical fitness and academic performance of junior high school children by focusing on intra-individual variability in school grades. Improvements in cardiorespiratory fitness were associated with an improvement in the worst grade points, but not with the best grade points. This suggests that improving cardiorespiratory fitness selectively improves a student's weakest subjects.
