Objective: To assess adherence to dietary sodium and potassium guidelines in people with diabetes. Methods: Prospective study of 904 participants with diabetes (2009-2015), using 24-h urine collections to estimate dietary intake. Results: Low adherence to both sodium (<100 mmol/24 h) and potassium (>120 mmol/24 h) guidelines (7% and 5%, respectively). Males less likely to meet sodium, more likely to meet potassium guidelines. Longer diabetes duration associated with higher adherence to both. Conclusions: People with diabetes do not meet dietary sodium and potassium guidelines and show little change in intake over time.
