Abstract
This study developed a novel approach for creating health-promoting and climate-friendly dietary recommendations. Hierarchical clustering analysis combined with linear programming optimized Swedish dietary data (n=1797) for the average population and identified dietary clusters. Optimized diets reduced climate impacts by up to 53% by increasing plant-based foods and decreasing animal-source foods. Cluster-based optimization provided more acceptable and realistic sustainable diet alternatives compared to a single population average.
