Abstract
This study investigated the association between central and general adiposity with albuminuria risk in 408,527 UK Biobank participants. Using ordinal logistic regression, researchers found that higher waist-to-hip ratio and BMI were independently associated with increased odds of higher urinary albumin-to-creatinine ratio (uACR) categories. While diabetes and related factors mediated a portion of these associations, the relationships remained significant even after adjusting for these mediators. The findings suggest strong adiposity-albuminuria links across various HbA1c levels.
