This study investigates how inhibitory control affects second language (L2) metaphor comprehension, considering the roles of metaphor conventionality (conventional vs. novel) and context (supportive vs. literal). Using a modified flanker task and semantic judgment tasks, the study compared high inhibitory control (HIC) and low inhibitory control (LIC) groups. Results show that inhibitory control's influence is modulated by both conventionality and context, suggesting a flexible and dynamic role in L2 metaphor comprehension.
