Abstract

This work reports on the design and development of a bi-parametric compact analytical flow system integrating two electrochemical biosensors for the simultaneous measurement of L-lactic and L-malic acids in red wines during malolactic fermentation. Miniaturized thin-film platinum four-electrode chips are fabricated and implemented in a polymeric fluidic structure. The working electrodes are modified with electropolymerized polypyrrole membranes entrapping specific receptors. The system shows a linear range from 5 × 10⁻⁶ to 1 × 10⁻⁴ M (LOD of 3.2 ± 0.3 × 10⁻⁶ M) for L-lactate and from 1 × 10⁻⁷ to 1 × 10⁻⁶ M (LOD of 6.7 ± 0.2 × 10⁻⁸ M) for L-malate. Results from wine samples show excellent agreement with standard methods.
