Abstract
This article examines the role of knowledge industries in amplifying the influence of small and medium-sized (SMS) states in world politics. It uses Israel as a case study, analyzing its experiences in satellite, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence industries to show how an SMS state can establish competitive knowledge sectors and achieve a status akin to middle powers. The study focuses on government intervention in securing these technological fields, driven by diverse motivations including national security concerns. The findings challenge conventional perceptions of middle powers and global power distribution.
