Abstract
This paper presents a miniaturized chip-based ion chromatography (chip-IC) system for multiparameter water quality monitoring. The system integrates microvalves, a sample channel, a packed column, and a five-electrode conductivity detector on a PMMA chip, using laser bonding for robust sealing. The five-electrode detector enhances sensitivity for nonsuppressed anion detection. The system successfully separated common anions (F⁻, Cl⁻, NO₃⁻, SO₄²⁻) in under 8 minutes, achieving a detection limit of 0.6 mg L⁻¹ for SO₄²⁻. Tap water analysis showed relative deviations below 10% compared to a commercial IC system.
