This study investigated factors influencing career decisions among artistic professionals in Germany during a second pandemic lockdown. A vignette experiment (n=788) examined the relative importance of health concerns and financial struggles. Results showed that income losses significantly decreased the willingness to change careers, while health prospects (vaccine efficacy) did not. Female gender and depressive symptoms were associated with greater willingness to change careers, while higher education and earning a livelihood in the culture industry were associated with less willingness.
