Abstract
This study compares the social intelligence (SI) of three large language models (ChatGPT-4, Google Bard, and Bing) with that of human psychologists. A sample of 180 psychology students (72 bachelor's, 108 doctoral) from King Khalid University completed a social intelligence scale. ChatGPT-4 significantly outperformed all psychologists, while Bing outperformed a majority of bachelor's and doctoral students. Google Bard's performance was comparable to bachelor's students. The study suggests rapid AI development in understanding social behavior and its potential to assist psychotherapists, while also highlighting the need for further research into AI's role in counseling and psychotherapy.
