Infectious diseases are a major global health concern. Traditional diagnostic methods are often slow and insensitive. This review summarizes recent advancements in molecular diagnostic techniques for infectious disease pathogens, including PCR, isothermal amplification, gene chips, and high-throughput sequencing. The authors compare the principles, advantages, disadvantages, applicability, and costs of these techniques.
