This prospective cohort study investigated the association between accelerometer-measured physical activity (PA) and mortality in 4003 individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D) from the UK Biobank. Longer durations of PA, regardless of intensity, showed L-shaped associations with all-cause and cancer mortality risks, and a negative linear association with cardiovascular disease mortality. A substantial proportion of deaths were attributable to low levels of light, moderate, and vigorous-intensity PA. The findings suggest that greater intensity and duration of PA are beneficial for T2D patients.
