Abstract
Observations of transiting gas giant exoplanets have revealed a pervasive depletion of methane, thought to be maintained by disequilibrium processes. The warm Neptune WASP-107b, with its unusually low density and amenable temperatures, shows features from SO₂ and CH₄ along with H₂O, CO₂, and CO in its JWST-NIRSpec transmission spectrum. Methane is detected with 4.2σ significance, depleted by 3 orders of magnitude. Analysis indicates a super-solar metallicity, a hot interior (*T*<sub>int</sub> = 460 ± 40 K), vigorous vertical mixing (*K* = 10<sup>11.6±0.1</sup> cm² s⁻¹), and a core mass of 11.5 ± 3.6 *M*<sub>⊕</sub>, higher than previous estimates.
