Abstract
Ellagitannins (ET) and ellagic acid (EA), polyphenols found in various foods, offer potential health benefits, particularly in cancer prevention. EA metabolizes into urolithins, absorbed into the bloodstream, exhibiting antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. This review examines EA's dietary intake, bioavailability, and anti-cancer properties, highlighting the need for more level 1 studies to strengthen the evidence base.
