Abstract
This study aimed to validate a short Italian version of the Fear of Pain Questionnaire-III (FPQ-III). Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analyses were performed on a large sample (n=1064), confirming a three-factor structure (severe, medical, and minor pain). Measurement invariance across gender was established. Convergent validity was assessed using additional measures (Pain Catastrophing Scale, Locus of Control of Behavior Scale, Coping Orientations to Problems Experienced), and discriminant validity was examined using fear-eliciting videos. Results supported the psychometric properties and validity of the 13-item Italian FPQ-III short form.
