Abstract

Li dendrite growth and liquid electrolyte volatilization in Li-O₂ batteries are addressed using a non-Newtonian fluid quasi-solid electrolyte (NNFQSE) SiO₂-SO₃Li/PVDF-HFP. This electrolyte exhibits shear-thinning and shear-thickening properties, promoting Li⁺ conductivity, high electrolyte retention, and dendrite growth inhibition. A lithium symmetrical battery using NNFQSE ran for over 2000 h, while a quasi-solid Li-O₂ battery achieved a lifespan exceeding 5000 h.
