Abstract
This study explored teachers’ perceptions of asthma care across six African countries through focus group discussions. Two key themes emerged: barriers to asthma care (lack of knowledge and skills, traditional beliefs, impact of asthma on adolescents, restrictions on teachers administering medication) and suggestions for improvement (inclusive asthma training programs, utilizing teachers with asthma experience, annual screening, and providing inhalers in schools). The findings highlight the need for structured school education programs and annual asthma screening to address barriers to asthma care in Sub-Saharan Africa.
