📖 About the Scholarship

The University of Pretoria (UP), in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, has been offering scholarships and comprehensive support to high-achieving young Africans pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate (Honours and Masters) degrees since January 2014.

🎁 Benefits

The scholarship provides scholars with:

• 1st Year: Start-up funds and visa fees
• Annual support
• Monthly stipend
• Tuition fees
• School supplies and books (Fundi)
• Student health insurance (medical aid)
• One-time only African-based summer internship (including flight and stipend)
• Campus room and board

✅ Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the University of Pretoria Mastercard Foundation Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

1. Applications are open to Undergraduate, Honours, and Masters students who have applied and been accepted to the University of Pretoria.
2. Eligible candidates can apply until 30th June 2026.
3. The program targets African youths facing significant socio-economic challenges, including:
   • Refugees
   • Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs)
   • Individuals with disabilities
4. Applicants must exhibit leadership qualities and a commitment to community service through involvement in projects, school activities, or religious organizations.
5. Scholars must demonstrate outstanding academic performance, maintaining a high academic average as part of the program's expectations.
