📖 About ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship

The UNESCO/ANSO-CAS-TWAS PhD Scholarship is a collaborative initiative between the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS/UNESCO). This scholarship aims to support up to 40 students/scholars from developing countries to pursue doctoral degrees in China for up to 4 years.

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• NOT hold Chinese citizenship.
• Be nationals of eligible developing countries in the South.
• Be proficient in English or Chinese.
• For PhD program applicants: Born after January 1, 1991 (inclusive).
• Meet the admission criteria for international students of USTC/UCAS.
• NOT take up other assignments during the scholarship period.
• Applicants currently pursuing a doctoral degree at any university/institution in China are NOT eligible for this scholarship.

Important: You are NOT allowed to apply for the ANSO Scholarship in both USTC and UCAS simultaneously. Doing so will result in disqualification.

• For USTC applicants: Refer to the Application Guideline for Graduate Applicants to USTC.
• For UCAS applicants: Refer to the Call for Doctoral Programs for International Students.

• Submit your application in the USTC/UCAS admission system before the deadline.

• Steps:

  1. Choose “the CAS-ANSO Scholarship” in your application.
  2. Check the box for ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship as instructed in the application system.
  3. Select BOTH Young Talents AND ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO Scholarship.
