โœ… Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Apply for or pursue a PhD in computing and information science disciplines.
  • Be a Singapore Citizen, Singapore Permanent Resident, or an International Student.
  • Apply for PhD admission at a partner university alongside the scholarship.
  • Hold at least a 2nd Upper Class Honours degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Submit GRE scores (optional) to strengthen their application.
  • Demonstrate strong interest in computing research careers in industry or academia.
  • Focus on areas such as:
    • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
    • Machine Learning
    • Data Science
    • Computing Systems
    • Simulation
  • Submit at least two referee reports as part of the application.
  • Provide a research proposal and full academic credentials.
  • Undergo multiple interview rounds with A*STAR leadership and research experts.
  • Obtain approval for supervisor and research project from A*STAR and partner institutions.

  • The application cycle aligns with university admission intakes in August or January each year.
  • Applicants must concurrently apply for PhD admission to their intended university.
  • The choice of PhD supervisor(s), project, and university is subject to approval by A*STAR.
  • Applicants may submit GRE scores (if available) to enhance their application.
  • Refer to the โ€œResearch Areas and Supervisorsโ€ tab on the A*STAR Graduate Scholarship (AGS) webpage for a list of approved supervisors.
  • Submit the following documents:
    • At least two referee reports.
    • A description of the proposed research area.
    • All academic credentials.
  • The selection process includes at least two rounds of interviews with A*STARโ€™s top management and researchers.
